Just bought a house - this picture shows the little eat in area connected to the kitchen. What would you do with these windows? Valance? nothing? and any ideas for paint - i cannot stand this bright lime color

If you don't need privacy, nothing. No Valances please.

You should start by painting the walls a pleasant neutral color.............

Since you didn't give any of us a glimse of the view outside, it is impossible to comment on whether " nothing " would work........

I like a grass cloth type blinds or roman shades that goes up or down. Then you can have sunlight and privacy....

No valances. Would you consider paint the stained window trim white? Woven Roman shades would look good…in a tone close to your floor.

outside is just our back yard - nice view but there are houses on the other side of the yard. there is a small bush but if left open, our neighbors across the way may see in. Anyone have any good neutral colors? I would definitely like to paint the window trim white - i don't know why the prior owners didn't.

So, i'm getting from you guys that valances are not cool? This is good, i need to know this stuff. lol

Sheer linen panels. Keep it simple. Uncovered windows create black holes at night.

Love the corner built in with the Roman Shades that Judy posted. Another option is
Plantation shutters, depending really on the look you wish to achieve. Have fun!!

Depends on what style you want? Edgecomb Gray, BM is a warm gray that may go with your floors, and is a nice safe choice....I really can't tell from the photo..Or do you want a bold Color?
Do yo have a favorite color? Do you like traditional, modern, contemporary? Color is very personal.

Hello,

By leaving them open you will brighten up the room which would be great for those walls, which should be painted a more neutral color such as taupe! Let the light in and leave the windows!
