Low Wrought Iron Balustrade on high balcony.

We have a very low original wrought iron balustrade on a balcony built in 1952 - quite dangerous. Wonder if we can heighten it by adding a welded panel without removing it. Anyone done anything remotely like that?

I would question the strength of an added section.

Yes Karin - Thanks. That will have to be the deciding factor - I think we will have to remove the entire thing and replace…which means retiling too.

I have the same thing on my house and do not find it bad and I have grandkids in and out all summer from the pool. But I think you could get some extensions welded on with glass installed between the uprights.
