Put granite straight to the wall or with a 3-4" backsplash?
June 22, 2014 in Design Dilemma
We are having granite installed in our kitchen. Our current countertop goes up the wall about 3". Most pictures I've seen have the granite just touching the wall and then tile is used as a backsplash. My concern is if the granite doesn't go up the wall a few inches (instead just stops at the wall) do I risk water damage to the wall (especially behind the sink)? From the pictures I've seen, it looks like there's just a bit of caulk between the tile backsplash and where it meets the granite. Appreciate any input!

We have granite to the wall. Tile up. Even if you do a piece of granite on backsplash it has a seem with caulking. We have no issues and neither do my parents who have had it that way 20 plus years.
