Mexican tile

Hey historians out there! I want an authentic hacienda look. I bought handmade Mexican tiles and am wondering if a diamond pattern, or a straight pattern for the field tile would look more classic?

Historically, you can find both. If you google "authentic hacienda floor tile" it brings up some good ideas. Personally, I'm a fan of the straight pattern, for me it's a little less straining on the eyes. Both, however, are interesting floor ideas.

Where are you putting the tile? The one at the top gives a stronger hacienda feel, but too much of it might get tiring to you really easily. I've seen tile like this used in small areas and it looks stunning. It still looks very hacienda but without over doing it or over powering the house.

It's on the backsplash.

It will look really nice as backsplash. I like more bold looks, and I like when people take risks. This is definitely more bold than the diagonal, and I think it will contribute best to the overall look that you want.
