What to do with small space at front of house

I would like to start doing some work to the front of my place and there is a small balcony I'm not really sure what to do with.

It comes off the main bedroom and gets the sun in the afternoon. Does anyone have any ideas on how to turn this into a usable space?

I would put some chairs and plants out there and enjoy the afternoon sun. Maybe a bakers rack on the wall with candles etc.

I'd consider a coat of paint and doing something with the floor to make it feel more like part of the house. Like others who have commented, I recommend putting a small table, couple of chairs, and plants out there. Also, consider adding lights to add a night-scape. I think that by doing some or all of these will make this space more enjoyable and add to your home's market value.

This is a great old porch. Here's some ideas:

The railing is so bright that it's the focal point -- the wonderful arches and details are getting lost. A simplified railing or painting this one a darker color will unify this area.

How about some curtains tied back behind the arches? A real budget option is canvas drop clothes. A chain in the hem will weight them down.

Since this is off the bedroom a swing bed could be great. This could be a daybed for lounging or even a sleeping porch ( likely the original use for this area).

A few shrubs in front and I think your house has a great feature! I love it!

Started me dreaming of an Italianate balustrade. Great spot for a morning latte, evening cocktail, mid-day nap. Play up the Mediterranean direction, maybe add a wall water feature, some curtains, a nice table and chairs, lounge chair and big pots with conical evergreens, or if you're in the right place a potted citrus tree.
