Spices and heat are not a good mix.

The design is terrific and the slide out storage look great and seems to functions well. One problem: spices should not be stored near a heat source--the stove top is way too close to the spice storage.

That looks like it may be an induction cooktop. If so, does it actually produce enough heat to put the spices in jeopardy?

Wow Great Place
There would not be sufficient heat coming off the cooktop to affect the spices. Heat rises, and the spices are below the heat source (no oven here!)
Ideally yes, spices and heat are not a great mix, but sometimes we haven't got much of a choice, as kitchens don't all have unlimited storage to put the spices in a pure environment. I see nothing wrong with the placement of these pull-outs, and if i were a cook in this kitchen, I find them to be in an ideal spot.
