I'm not sure what style this house is. It was built in 1945 and I'd like to give the exterior an updated, modern look. i particularly like the Mid Century Modern look. Any suggestions and is my goal possible? Thank you.

The house has some mid century elements but it also has traditional details as well.
You can make it more mid century by replacing the columns with simple straight wood or steel columns ..... You can also change the windows to simple casement windows.
Paint will also help.

Painting the brick would do a lot . . the roofline has promise. . . you could figure out something to build out and clad with horizontal wood and integrate into the entry to hide the meter boxes with a panel for the reader that would increase the mcm look . . you can pull off mcm cottage easier than mcm "pad" but you can definitely get a mod look with these doors and windows if you use color strategically. . . a bright door and a painted window accent shade would be very contemporary against a deep camoflauge khaki painted brick .. maybe an eggplant door and mossy green door/ window trim? Maybe taking the charcoal just a tad warmer gray / bm gray gardens type gray . .
depends on how far contemporary you want to go . . .

Thank you. I like the horizontal wood idea a lot and do plan to paint the brick. The house does have a lot of columns, so I'll look for some column ideas. I had a carpenter build a simple square box around some ornate columns in a previous house and that turned out well.
