Should I paint the brick?

I have been contemplating painting the portion of brick in the front of our house. I would like a more updated look, but don't want it to look silly. Should I leave it? Paint it? If so, what color? The current siding color is a very light grey. Thanks for the advice!

Leave it as is and plant shrubbery to cover it up if you don't like it.

The brick accent looks like the typical builders after thought. Either paint it to match your siding or remove it and reside this section. Actually I like the grey, but hey I live in Seattle. I would agree with "Nappingtiger" this area of the house could use some additional landscaping. Bring the bed out and in a more sweeping shape. Your landscape beds are too rigid and square. You need to soften the lines of the house with something other than green squares and balls The tree line out back is a plus so capitalize on it by introducing some color variation in your front yard,

I can see it painted white but probably not any other color.

Agree with Urbanata/Steve. The very rigid, carved shrubs and evergreens date your home. More relaxed and colorful plantings would go a long way to improving its overall appearance. You could try photoshopping the brick in a slightly darker shade than the siding to see if that appeals to you.

We're planning to do some landscaping soon, so I appreciate you all reinforcing the idea of having "softer" lines / plantings. The boxy boxwoods, are leaving the premises!

Personally, I like the brick the way it is as it provides a bit of a contrast, I surely wouldn't paint it to match the siding. I agree with landscaping in a sweeping curving area that provides more visual interest. Good luck!
