What's the best way to effectively illuminate a bedroom?

Do you think that a large lighting fixture, such as this chandelier and these pendants, can be used in bedrooms? Or should bedrooms focus on accent and task lighting pieces (such as table or floor lamps)? What works? What doesn't work?

Yes. I like the look. I would have one only on a dimmer.

Yes, there should also be accent and task lighting pieces.

I love them. But good bedside lighting is very important too. I don't think it's an either/or thing, unless budget is the issue. In that case, prioritize your bedside lamps especially if you like to read in bed. Function first!

What works is going with what you like. If it was a 7' ceiling, it would be too much, but with a higher ceiling, they look fine.

Great responses everyone! So in bedrooms with low ceiling space, what type of lighting do you tend to navigate toward using instead of large fixtures like these? Do you prefer recessed lighting or maybe a stylish flush mount?

I avoid flush mount if at all possible

What makes you say that Cathy? - if not flush (or even semi flush lighting) what ceiling fixtures do you normally prefer using?
