Can you still have a drawer above the trash pull-out?

I would not unless you empty often because of the odor it may carry in the drawer above. However, the front panel of my trash can is one panel that combines an imitation of the door cabinet beside it + an imitation of the drawer beside it. So, when you pull the trash door, the door cabinet and the drawer come together.

They do make trash pullouts with plastic lids now. I would definitely keep the drawer above the trash. And if you are still concerned with the odor issue, keep your trash bags and other none food items in there! I find that it is a good drawer for the flashlight, batteries, etc.

You might also try scented trash bags.

Mine is a waste of space. (I know that wasn't the question.) Never get rid of storage, empty that thing daily. No odor problem.
