Flooring for kitchen, dining, and hallway

I posted recently about our kitchen and everyone was such a huge help! I really appreciate it! So I figured I'd ask another question.
Our house has several types of flooring and it is driving me crazy. The room which will be our dining room has wall to wall carpet, steps up into a tiny landing which then has laminate flooring and you can go left into the living room (with gorgeous original hardwoods) or right into the kitchen with the laminate. Then from the kitchen is another hallway approximately 8x8 with carpet again that takes you to 2 bedrooms, living room, and bathroom. We will be changing the carpet out in the dining room to a tile. (It is also an entryway from garage and side door so I want a floor that can withhold major traffic)
My question is, should I continue the tile into the hallway and kitchen to have a better flow? I am not a fan of having 4 different floor types on the same level. Plus the laminate is distinctly a different shade from the hardwoods and is driving me crazy. I am new to this. Our old house was all newly renovated and we didn't have to do anything.

I'd really prefer you try to match the existing hardwood flooring. This is worth inquiring about. However, if it's not possible then replacing carpet and linoleum with tile in the dining room, entry and hall should work nicely.

I'm with Carolyn and trying to find a species match to your hardwood. Species and "plank width" probably won't be a problem. Hardwood will work very well in the entrance areas. If it can be installed in a kitchen, it can be installed in an entrance.

I would question what it would look like with hardwood in the kitchen and then tile in the dining room (a reverse in traditional flooring application that may or may not work).

Try to stick to 1 surface on the same level with the exception being the kitchens/baths (kitchens and baths are their own entitities and are "allowed" to have their own distinct sufraces).

I was going to do tile in the kitchen, hallway and dining. There is laminate in the kitchen (the picture makes it seem like a lighter color but in reality is much darker than the actualy hardwoods) right now that is extremely different than the hardwoods in the bedrooms and living room. I am going to see if the hardwoods in the living room can be matched. Color and pattern.
