Help with curtains?

So, I just painted my apartment and this is my first time doing any sort of decorating...I'm lost! The walls are tan, white trim. I have 3 windows, I'm replacing the blinds pictured with these thicker ones:

I'm wondering what to do about curtains...panels, valance, scarf? I have no idea what will look best, but hubby is set on having curtains, and the blinds are a must. I'm thinking I'd like to stick with black or black & white for color, but I'm open to suggestions. Should they all be the same? I was thinking too of doing black on either side and white/bulk pattern in the center, if I use panels? Here are some links to curtains I like. I'm attaching a photo of the windows, please excuse the mess...I *just* finished painting. Thanks in advance for advice!

Hi Tiffanie - congrats on your first apartment! I looked at some of the links and would not recommend any valance or scarf for the tops of the windows. I would get some simple curtains and than them as close to the ceiling as possible to create height. I don't know what kind of furniture or flooring you have but I don't think you can wrong with a black and white scheme no matter what colour walls/furniture you have so I think the Classic Noir Window Panel Black and White would look very dramatic and feminine or the Target Fretwork Panel in Black and White would look very striking as well.. Hope this helps. Good luck from Montreal!

I was going to say the same as Rebecca, panels, not scarves or valances. B/W would be lovely with your walls.

HI - Tiffanie --- Valances and scarves are out . Just have a simple rod with corner attachments to fit the curves of the bay . Hung up to the ceiling . Then have two panels per side of each window and in between - so that will be 8 panels all together . Get grommet tops ,or back tabs (not hanging tabs ). If your ceiling is 8 ft. high then get 95 inch long panels .

Thank you all for the tips! When you say hung up to the ceiling, what does that mean exactly? Can you post a photo? My ceiling is around 8.5 ft. Should the panels go to the floor? Lefty47, you're saying to use one rod that goes across all 3 windows? Is this something I can find at Home Depot and install myself, or a custom made thing? Lol, I'm sorry I'm so clueless. Would 8 panels all be the same print? Should the rods extend past the edge of the windows?

I'm getting new furniture soon, it will likely be chocolate microfiber. Can I add color with pillows, or what would you do? I can't do anything about the awful pink carpet and I certainly don't want to design around that, so I'm just ignoring it and doing what I want otherwise lol.

HI -- Tiffanie --- Hang the rod at the 8ft. level . And yes you should be able to get a rod that will go the length and shape of the bay window. Home depot or Sears or any place that sells drapes and hardware , or even on-line . You will need three rod sections and two connecters and two finials . The drape panels should clear the floor by 1/2 inch . Some fabric stores carry Ready -made drape panels and everything else you need . Yes get all the panels the same and bring them out past the edge of the windows , Basically fill the whole bay with the drapes .

Could you find a website that shows the rod you are talking about? I'm at lowes and they are telling me there is no such thing as a rod that will go over all 3 Windows. She said I could only get a custom made one which would be expensive. They said I have to get a seperate rod for each Window.

HI -- Don't go to a hardware store for this ... they don't know what they are talking about there . Look at a Sears Window Fashions catalogue and go to the drape hardware pages and you will find the rod for a bay window . It's called the Bayview Steel rod set by umbra and it's price is about $69.99 approx.

HI -- If you do a Google search for Baywindow Drape Rods and go to images , you will see lots of these rods that Lowes says don't exist !
