Need help with paint colors, window treatments,etc.

Please help me with color ideas for this room. Should I keep the room traditional white or make the walls more beige or tan? I want a look that will not go out of style quickly, something classic. I usually paint the wall and ceiling the same color…is that odd? I like the continuous flow. The wall graphic will stay
( I know,it screams 1980s!)
The furniture is slip covered, I have various colors for seasonal change.
I plan to replace the worn carpet with hardwood and a large area rug
I like tropical , California & Southern style. I am considering an accent wall, painting the side wall a light sky-like blue to compliment the aquarium and palm foliage. What about plantation blinds for the windows or something that says relaxation and vacation?

Keep the walls white! No beige or tan, that will feel dated. I like how the angle of the ceiling blends with the walls, and if you paint the walls a darker color it will break up the small space. Good luck!

You are so correct! The room should stay white. No accent walls! I used a paint color visualizer software from Sherman Williams to see how other colors would appear. White is classic and looks best…but which white? Blueish whites? Yellowish? What is the science behind using certain tints? Which white will 'warm' up the room without glare?

Wait to pick your white until you have your new floor and area rug as that will likely affect your decision. I like the room and your graphic.

My challenge is that the painting will be done first, then the floor will be installed and rug laid. Which 'white' is good for a living room with a western exposure and large skylight?

How about a white with a bluish undertone to it that is just barely there for the walls? Then for the ceiling I would go with a bright white to reflect the light, and make the room bright and cheery:

Would a white paint with bluish undertones make the room feel cold on cloudy,gray winter days?

I would look for a slightly warm white with no blue undertones. Benjamin Moore White Dove is my absolute favorite!

Great advice! White Dove seems like it wouldn't glare on sunny, hot days and feel cosy in the winter…I appreciate your professional opinion! Any say on window treatments?

Benjamin Moore's horizon is a great color. Off white with just a small hint of gray that could help set off that California vibe. Good luck it's a nice room.
