Are oil finished engineered hardwood floors practical for kids?

vsylvaJuly 20, 2014
I'm considering oil finished oak plank flooring by Navarre. However, I'm wondering if it makes sense for a home with small kids and possibly a dog at some point (scratches, stains, etc.). Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oak is a good choice since it's a hard and resilient species and wears well and can be refinished multiple times.
You may want to consider a polyurethane finish over the oil to alleviate some your concerns regarding stains and wear.
