Bedrm idea with shelving that can't be removed

We are renting and were told the shelving could be removed. After we signed the lease we were told shelving could not be removed. Trying to decide what to do now with all this shelving as well as decide b/w the following 2 beds. Currently I have plywood behind bed because shelving exists across the back.

love the simplicity of the drommen bed. It may be a bit time consuming but what about adding false backs to all or some of the nooks wrapped in pretty wall paper? just an idea
