I would be inclined to look for a print (or a no-print print, if that makes sense). Maybe in blue/grey/white or blue/white/taupe. Print hides a multitude of children (and adult) spills. I like how airy the room looks in the previous layout and, while your taste and needs are different, that effect is still nice.

Nice space! Are you thinking about having an indoor/outdoor rug in the room? It could help pull everything together and define the space. I'd start with that first, find something that you love that works with the wall color and beige tile flooring. So many more options on the internet so you may want to purchase online (Overstock, Ballards, etc.) Make sure there is a good return policy, perhaps buy a small rug first to check the colors and return it so you are only out the shipping (or keep it to take along while shopping for other items). Then select your cushion covers, most likely you'll want to keep it very neutral and find more colorful accent pillows (those rectangular lumbar pillows would work for your chairs). Take your time and have fun decorating!
