Color for living room

In my large light Edwardian that I'm restoring in a traditional way, the center hall will be linen white, and the dining room will be a pale yellow damask. What color to paint the living room, that opens to both those spaces? There's lots of natural light and high ceilings. There is an original stained glass detail that is amber and rose. I don't want a yellow room, and can't sell a pink one to my husband.

Inspiration from an old Turkish rug...how about a pale terra-cotta. You'd have to find just the right shade for your lighting but it could be stunning.
