Hanging a shelf

What distance would I use between a table and a wine glass shelf.
I would think it would be the distance between the top of the table and the bottom of the wine glass. Thank you.

Generally from the top of a lower cabinet to the bottom of a upper cabinet is 18". There no correct answer here but if you want to leave room to have wine bottles, ect on the table and not worry about the glasses interfering you will need some height.
