Fireplace dilemma! Help!

I live on the beach in a 1925 yr old Spanish style home. The existing fireplace, that I painted all white until I came up with a plan. The mantle still needs to be stained. But the facade is so drab. I have gas and will be purchasing log set. I'm in process of redoing room awaiting furniture. Please see attached photos and please help with ideas for me to make the family room an eclectic warm fun bright place to lounge.

This looks like a beautiful room (what we can see of it!) Is everything we can see now staying? If you're going to leave the TV over the fireplace, I think it would look nice built in like this room:

How about the drapes and the area rug? I think at least one (or both) needs to be swapped out if you want this to be a bright room. I love the crystal chandelier. Do you have any other fabrics selected? Is the sofa a definite?

Yes room is long and kids need to be able to watch TV ... I thought about two love seats etc.... It just didn't work with heads turned... Not comfy.

Rug is gone. I put in my master. Blue sofa gone. I'm keeping blue chair and ottoman. Orange chair gone and of course so is the gaming chair!!!!

Try turning the sofa the opposite way with the side arm facing fireplace,then you could put a sofa table behind it and put the blue chair on the corner beside the fire place

The blue and coral are a natural mix. To "eclectify" the FP, add glass tiles inside the three panels created by the dividers. I don't advise staining the mantel though. Add a wonderful rug and funky chandy. Keep the blue and coral chairs and add a pair of standard (not love) sofas in an "L"

The coral and blue palette is great, but you can since it's a family friendly room, yellow would be nice as well. I have a rug similar to the one I am attaching from Overstock. I think it would play nicely in this room for the color you want to add.
