Bathroom shower door
August 19, 2014 in Design Dilemma
What design works best for a shower door with an opening of 36" and 7'. The shower is completely tiled and has three shower heads, one from the middle ceiling and two on either wall. We would like a sliding glass frameless door but not sure if that is the best match. Thanks!

I'm pretty sure a sliding door won't work in the 36" width you have. I struggle with 24" openings and a sliding door is over half of the width (need to cover that center). So 17" max door opening? A barn door style would open farther but not seal at all. So a swing door is it. You could do a 28" swing door with a 10" fixed panel or some other combination like that.

Do you recommend an Euro 3/8" thick door?

I'm not sure about the Euro part...most of our glass frameless shower doors and enclosures are 3/8" or 1/2" tempered glass. For the most part we use C.R. Lawrence hardware...a US manufacturer. For frameless door and panel that size, 3/8" is good. Don't go the full 7' though. Leave some opening at the top for steam to escape...unless it is a steam shower!
