Are artificial trees out ?

For offices I think you can get away with some realistic looking artificial trees. We have them in our atrium and you really cant tell. The other plantings are real, from a service, but the big trees are all artificial. They look nice because they are mixed together.

Offices tend to the practical and pragmatic (unless you are in creative design). I prefer to see real (also very good for purifying the air and bringing in oxygen to those masses of little grey cells) so if possible and if it is NOT a burden, opt for real plants. If not, open the windows regularly
