Multi color slate tile would look nice.

Oh! I like the slate idea. Seems like it would call to the grey veining in the granite. I also think a buff limestone or travertine would create a timeless look. Perhaps with well placed slate accent tiles/mosaics.

If you take a look at the other pictures of this kitchen that I did we used a light ivory travertine. Now the 6x6 that you see was existing and the client refused to get rid of it so we had to work around it. But if you look at the cook top area you will see the gorgeous herring bone light ivory travertine.
