Wall color without backsplash

chebbieAugust 27, 2014
I ended up omitting the full backsplash and instead went for the 6 inch granite backsplash. We had a lot to do do I cut it out in the interest of cost. What wall color would you recommend for that area?
In the future could I add subway tiles or would it look tacky with the 6 inch backsplash?

I wouldn't paint the wall another color or add tile. I think if you just added a large wicker basket (which would also do double duty to make that corner looks less cluttered), it would fill the space and you won't even notice what's on the wall. [houzz=

HI -- Usually better to have the backsplash all the same material . And right on trend to have the counter and backsplash all the same too. If you added more of the same tiles then that would look better than two materials . Or if you have subways later then those tiles should be removed .

Yes, tacky! In fact, I would omit the 6 inch backsplash you now have. Tell me why it's necessary? It just chops your under-cabinet wall space in half (well, thirds). What if you get a splash above the 6" mark? You don't need a backsplash in that location since it's not near a sink or stovetop and there's no good place to end it on either wall.
