Ideas on the best space saving clothes airer ideas please.

I'm looking for a heavy duty clothes airer.
My home is not large. I have a narrow upstairs hallway also a narrowi-ish hallway downstairs. I will be trying not to use my tumble dryer to much during the winter and wet weather. Because my home is quite small, I need an airer, possibly concertina type, but was wondering if there were any wall / ceiling mounted, fold away type clothes airers. One that would last for some time would be good.

Any ideas please.

You can leave stuff on them and pull them up with the ropes so they are out of the way, provided you have high enough ceilings.

Brabantia is a really good brand that comes with long guarantees and they replace parts even when it is just from wear and tear. The Victorian traditional one will last forever, it is just a matter of whether you a place where you like the look of it when it does and doesn't have clothes on it. Good luck!

Thank you For your suggestions. I had totally forgotten about the pulley type dryers which would be ideal for my little home.

We have a pulley airer which we inherited when we bought our house. The previous (elderly) owners raved about it and I honestly thought they were old fashioned looneys. The last laugh is on me though as we use it every day (busy house with 2 adults, 4 kids and a crazy dog!) and I truly wouldn't be without it now.

You must attach it into a floor joist though as the weight of it plus clothes will tear your ceiling down if its not correctly fixed!

Be careful about airing damp clothes in a room that doesn't have fresh air ( ie windows open) in as you could increase the vapour in the room and end up with damp issues, like mould etc

This is heated and an economical alternative to a tumble drier. It folds down to be completely flat (could be stored under a bed or in airing cupboard if you don't have a utiity room) and can be assembled in seconds.
