Was the washing machine outlet box lowered to be under the counter? If so, do you have to pull out the washer to access the shut off valves? Building a custom home and want to do a counter over the front loads but the plumber has put the rough in box for the washer where it will show in the backsplash.
Chartreuse Design, Ltd. Yes, it has to be lowered. And, yes, you do need to pull out for the shut off (seems kind of dumb) which is why some towns don't allow this. Check your local codes. You have to weigh it out. I love having a counter over mine for folding, party stage area, and even some of my home office. I only wish they could invent a front load that doesn't get moldy!
Krista Cashatt 2 things concerning front end loader - use less detergent like a 1/4 of the container for all loads and run your whites through once a week with bleach. Also wipe out the catch line in the door jam and I spray a bleach solution in there once a week...moldy smell free and never have had a problem since.
Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Also helps to keep door open in between cycles to let it air out. Liquid detergent works best, agree only a small amount is required.
Chartreuse Design, Ltd. Thanks! I try to keep the door open inbetween but haven't tried the bleach for the catch in the jamb...there are many of us washing here and I think some aren't following all those guidelines :)
Custom Home Planning Center If buying a new washer and dryer consider the one piece European style that uses a dehumidifier engineer rather than heat coils or gas. No problem with humidity either and takes up 1/2 the space for the same cost.
