Trend in bathroom fixtures

Our house was built in 1998. All of our bath fixtures are polished brass. I want to update to chrome or nickel, but am afraid this trend may be coming to an end. What is the safest bet?

Nickel and chrome have never been a trend and never will be. They're the standard. Just toured a 19th century President's home where the lady of the house refused to have to make yet another trip to the outhouse! So, to keep her happy, the first indoor bathroom in our state was installed, complete with nickel faucets. Gold faucets and spigots just don't look right to me: the gold is a 'warm' color while the white porcelain is 'cool'. Chrome/silver/nickel are also 'cool' and are the better accompaniment.

Chrome never goes out of style and it is the hardiest and easiest to clean of all the finishes. Can you think of any other finish that has endured like chrome.

Thanks for your input! I love chrome and now feel better about the investment - i just didn't want to upgrade and then see brass make a comeback!

It seems brass is making a tiny bit of a comeback, but NEVER for me:)
