Need help painting/staining rough sawn exterior cedar siding

As you can see in this photo my 35 year old South Florida house needs some new paint/stain as well as some landscaping. We removed the plants from the front yard and that has become more of an urgent need! Any suggestions on what to do as far as color/staining of the cedar wood siding would be greatly appreciated.
