I'm buying a new exterior door, pine, full lite. I would like to add contemporary hardware- a pull, which means I also need a dead bolt. I'd like to put the deadbolt to the right of the pull. The width of the wood that I have to work with is 4.5 inches. The first sales person I've talked with tried to talk me out of it and seemed to suggest it wouldn't be possible . Below is a picture of the hardware set-up I'd like. Can anyone tell me if this set-up will be possible? Thanks so much.
Pipeline Supply-Decorative Hardware Division This can be done with a pull and a deadbolt. There are a few questions you have to ask yourself, do you want the door to constantly have to be locked/unlocked every time you go in and out of it? With out normal door hardware on this door, there is no latch that works on the door. So if not, what do you do to make sure the door has some type of latching system on it so the door doesn't open with pressure or wind if it's not locked every time you go in and out of it.
360 Yardware Another consideration is that the majority of deadbolts have either a 2-3/8" or 2-3/4" backset. On your mockup it looks like the deadbolt is placed with a 1.5" backset. Maybe you could find it somewhere, just not too standard, I fear.
