Basement Family Room - Leslie Goodwin Photography - Toronto
Ashburn Basement - Synergy Design & Construction - Reston, VA
Modern Meets Rustic - John Kraemer & Sons - Edina, MN
Jones Basement Den - Garrison Hullinger Interior Design - Portland, OR
Playroom Basement - Feathered Nest Interiors - New York
Blue Buffalo - Beth Rosenfield Design - Ridgefield, CT
Memorabilia Sports Bar - VM Concept Interior Design Studio - Scottsdale, AZ

Madison Modern Home Jones Basement Den - Garrison Hullinger Interior Design - Portland, OR because it has the most eclectic feel to it. It's not as kid-centric as my runner-up choice, Basement Family Room - Leslie Goodwin Photography - Toronto, so it's more versatile. Plus, it has the most color and energy. I like the choices of art and its Mid Century feel.

mmjmurphy Modern Meets Rustic.... hands down the best restful and relaxed

Doug Durando While I'm a sucker for weathered wood and large dog statues, I have to say the Ashburn basement is my pick. A pool table with underglow? Yes, please.

veillem Love it , a ready to create environment for the kids, sofa when you can cozy up, space where you can relaxe , inviting and warm !

Emily Hurley I went with the sports bar. I don't know why, but I love the idea of playing bartender in my basement and watching sports. Realistically, I probably couldn't get away with it and would go for more of the Basement Family room look.

Karen Heffernan Blue buffalo - it's so fresh and inviting. I wanna hang out there!

Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. I like the soft palette and the straight lines of the Basement Family Room.

Amy Renea love the simplicity of the family room and the use of light colors to brighten the space!

Manon Floreat Oh! It's a toss-up between the Ashburn Basement and the Jones Basement Den. I like the features of the Ashburn one: billiards, TWO tv's, a full bar AND a fireplace - but the color palette is cold. Jones is much warmer - plus there's a great table for pinochle.

Joni Koenig Interiors The playroom basement just looks so fun for kids!

Emily Hurley I like the playroom too. There is another section not shown in that photo that has a room to practice shooting hockey pucks.

Shannon Ggem ASID- Ggem Design Co LLC Love that Blue Buffalo graphic! The graphic in the modern meets rustic would be a very good room for me. Great work in this poll.

Chandani The family room- just fits more with our lifestyle right now... hang out with the kids, hide their toys in the cabinets under the TV, crafts on the table! Light, bright and airy!

inkwitch Definitely Modern meets Rustic - relaxing, well-pulled together with the real space, not just the illusion! Classy.

zidog Modern meets Rustic- Basements feel cold and damp to me no matter what, so the fireplace does it for me. However, I don't care for the feel or look of leather upholstery, so I'd probably switch that for something fluffy and light. I feel like it could still use a beverage bar and some lamps or something. Overall though I would choose this one. I do however like the styles of Basement Family Room and Jones Basement Den.

Rehab Ismail modern meets rustic,i like it a lot cos i prefer rustic style together with coziness and i don't prefer white light it makes the room dull and homogeneous unlike the yellow dimmer light that gives depth and warmth to the place together with the nice stony fireplace and wooden stairs

Anita Roll Murals My picks are Basement Family Room although the palette leaves me a little chilled I appreciate the area for kiddos and Jones Basement Den for all the fun visuals of textures, colors and patterns. Feels retro yet modern...backgammon and fondue anyone?

Diann wow this was a tough one as I loved them all. Each one stuck me as a great place to hang out with family and Friends. I chose the Jones one only because it was so different the color scheme and looked like a nice place to be. Each of them was so special in their own way that if I could I would vote for them all with exception of the Playroom basement that one just sorta left me cold. Rest of them well hands down they all win in my book

momof5x They are all beautiful but based my choice on what suit myself and family-ayy we can dream about it hehe-I love the light as usual in this room, it looks very cosy, well planned, like the position of the dining table etc. very practical and inviting.

Marie Meko, Allied ASID It is really a tough choice because they are all great. I am going with the Jones because we live in a cold climate and the Red is inviting without being to strong.
We have a lot of Midcentury Modern homes in are area and this would be perfect.

Erika Bonnell, Inc. Interior Design Love the Jones Basement Den!

dibenjamin I like the Ashburn layout but it's too cold looking, while the style of the modern-rustic one is warmer and nicer. So I would like to see the Ashburn one in the modern-rustic style. I also like the sports bar layout and floor, but I very much dislike sports! So can we take out all the sports stuff and just make it a nice bar? :) I dislike the playroom. I don't think the colors look right together.

Moments of Art The Jones Family Den is a little too retro in a literal sense for me, because everything looks as though it could be plunked down in the late sixties early seventies and fit right in. Put a little more modern spin on it and I'd like it.

I voted for Basement Family room, simply because that is more my style and I could see myself there. However...I know that a basement would be more of my husband's domain, so I probably should have voted for Modern Meets Rustic. I could totally see him stretched out on that sofa watching the game...or rather him stretched out on that sofa asleep while the game was playing!

oneroomatatime Basement Family Room - Inviting and light. Too many basements feel dark and dungeon-like.

karelina None. They're all TV centered.

iheart2dance I voted for the Basement Family room because it is cozy and inviting and also for the big long table that can be used for board games or crafting. The Ashburn Basement would be awesome for entertaining of a certain style but my own entertaining style tends to be more subdued. :)

mcd53 What's wrong with having a television in a basement family room?
karelina My guess is that if there's one in the basement, there's also one in the LR, kit, and BRs. Mindless entertainment is not good for anyone's health or mental development of children.
Moments of Art @karelina, the Blue Buffalo and Jones Den do not show any tvs.

Linda Haner That is real brick in "basement family room" so I know how much work went into making that space functional. Anyone can put up a panel system ....turning a cellar into a living space is an achievement.

jhendricks17 I love the look of the basement family room, but it is afterall, a basement which is relinquished to the kids. My vote is the playroom - it looks very kid/ teen friendly where they can't really harm anything (such as the white rug in the family room basement).

Decor Innovation Designs As much as I love the look and layout to the Modern Meets Rustic - it lacks that pop of color I love to see in a family room.. So my vote is for the Jones Basement Den - Garrison Hullinger Interior Design - This space is fun and welcoming, love the design..

Mary Pettit I like the Jones. It seemed warm and inviting with the red touches. It felt the least "basementy" with all the different planes from the wall and ceiling treatments.

cyclee Basement for me is all about fun and entertainment, and I don't like to repeat what I already have upstairs, therefore Ashburn Basement totally gets my vote.

Jason Shepard Blue Buffalo is the hands-down winner for me (minus the dog, but that's a personal thing). It could be a basement, or even a main living room for me. I love that graphic and the old-world style. Beautiful!
