Marble in the steam shower?
This is a beautiful bathroom. I, too, want to put marble in a steam shower but was told not to -- that it would have to be sealed quite a bit and would be high maintenance. Can you share your thoughts on that with me? Thank you so much.

The Sky is the Limit Design yes, marble is a porous stone, and the contractor and myself were concerned about this, however, we did our homework, and have been advised that it was okay to use it in the steam shower. I used travertine, another type of porous material, on a previous job with the same contractor, and on both projects we have so far not been disappointed - they have been installed for 4 and 5 years respectively.

sheehynan Thank you so much for responding so quickly. Can I ask you what your homework revealed and did you advise your client to maintain the marble any differently than a ceramic or porcelain tile?

The Sky is the Limit Design other than sealing the stone - no. however, i know there are lots of dicussion out there in regards to the proper materials and procedure for underneath the stone. I know that John Whipple is quite into this - why don't you check him out, he is in the vancouver metro area under interior design, if I am not mistaken.
He tried out various systems and glues, and might be a good source of information!
