Hi! Tile is easier to keep clean than drywall is. Grease & sauces will clean off easily, especially if they are wiped off after cooking & aren't given a chance to sit for too long. One of the keys to any tile installation is to make sure that the installer seals the grout. The grout will stain before a ceramic tile will.

ask your tile installer about using epoxy or urethane grout for a permanently sealed grout.

vivikenny- ceramic tile or glass will be very easy to keep clean. Your main concern in this scenario would be sealing your grout really well. If you choose to install a stone product, we would recommend sealing with Stain Proof by Dry Treat. They guarantee no staining on the stone for 15 years if applied by one a certified applicator. Their product is about twice as much as some of the other sealers on the market, but to only apply once in 15 years is well worth the cost. It is always important to ask the manufacturer or distributor of the tile what they would recommend. Some tiles, even though they are ceramic or glass, require special sealing instructions.
    Best of luck.
