Madison Modern Home Highgate Family Room - Architecta Interiors is my fave, followed closely by Scottish Retreat - MPD London. Highgate is a much better-designed room, although Scottish Retreat speaks to my more casual side. Highgate's chairs and sofa look so nap-ready, and the soft caramel color scheme draws you in. Scottish Retreat is brighter and happier, maybe. But for pure coziness -- and with an extra seating area to boot -- Highgate is my winner!
Frank In terms of the best designed modern space, my vote goes to the Contemporary Traditional for the great selection and color choices of furniture. I do love modern furniture. However, as the family room is intended to be a warm space for casual gathering, my vote actually ends up going to the Scottish Retreat. Of all of the rooms shown, the one I would choose to spend an evening with my family is definitely this one for the warmth and sociability.
shelleyhmln I have to vote for this one! Mainly because it is it can be done! So beautiful and calm. At the same time, it is looks so comfortable. You want to spend time there.
Marie Meko, Allied ASID Highgate feels like an old English home that has a young contemporary family living there with a dog in front of the fireplace and Wellies at the door. Warm and cozy on those chilly damp English nights.
hunterbee The contemporary traditional gets my vote. It looks clean and unfussy. I love the warmth of the Highgate and the Scottish Retreat but the wood chairs don't look particularly comfy in the Highgate and the table in the Scottish doesn't look like it will accommodate all the boardgames we love to play in my family. Sheer number of seats that can be pulled around that huge table, the flexibility and space for kids and pets won me over.
Jamieson Highgate gets my vote, great mix of traditional and modern elements. Would love to settle into one of those wingback chairs on a chilly night with a nicely aged scotch, and bask in the warmth and glow of that gorgeous fireplace...cheers!
nikoyam Highgate Family Room!!! Beautifully arranged and the colors say "Please come in and sit down." Wonderful use of textures and mixing of styles that would not ideally be placed in the same space... Bravo!
Charmean Neithart Interiors, LLC. Highgate for me, I can't resist a paneled room. It has a great mix of modern and traditional pieces in a classic setting.
inkwitch Highgate -- the bookshelves got my attention! Fantastic retreat from that damp London fog! Although the warmth of London Family room attracted me, too. Any room with books draws my attention.
realtorcheryl Highgate - especially liked the separate reading area and the tone of the wood stain. It's refreshing to not see dark mahogany or cherry used in a library area. Even with the lighter wood the designer created an extremely warm, welcoming room. Scottish retreat was definitely my second choice but being a Florida girl, I'd use their design for a beachside cottage retreat instead...use a lighter couch, add a few beachy items and it's a perfectly coastal room.
Diann Highgate gets my vote I have been a Fl girl now 15 years and love it but cant get the warmer tones out of my blood. I would take out that weird chair though. Looks like a good room to sit back and crash in .
Diann Bellsize looks like scrunched up Tin Foil on ceiling I do like the room, other than that ceiling and red heart on the fire place looks silly and outa place.
Mona Ives I actually love aspects of each although each one has something off-balance: London family room would be my favorite except that the color is unbalanced - too much on one side, too little on the other but the layout is very functional and the color is striking. Highgate - looks and probably is expensive, but kind of reminds me of a Restoration Hardware catalog. And all neutral rooms are not my thing personally. Belize is beautiful but the window treatments needed a tiny bit of color to tie in - maybe banding, and the fireplace is too understated. Factory - looks under furnished and doesn't appear to have enough seating. The Contemporary Traditional is what I voted for mostly because I like the use of neutral with color and the rug and ottomans give it something extra vs. the very all grey interiors we see nowadays. I only wish there had been a little bit more blue. Maybe on a window cushion or another couple pillows. But it's beautiful. Scottish retreat actually looks the most comfortable and practical for a London family but the chesterfield sofas are low backed and that always makes me uncomfortable when I sit in one. The room would be better with just 1-2 fewer accessories like maybe the frames on the mantle or the birdcage. I wish someone would critique my work this way because I would find it very helpful :)
Decor Innovation Designs Highgate Family Room - Architecta Interiors gets my vote I love the warm cozy feel this space has, not to mention the great mixture of modern and traditional..
Homescapes Europa Ltd Belsize because i have like the use of colors which is totally in these days and loved the roof pattern and lighting. Simple, clean and elegant.
amycocotis London Family Room. The color and crispness of the room is energizing, while the chandeliers draw attention to the architecture, adding that touch of class. This room has plenty of seating and offers something to the entire family. A great hang out for a rainy day!
Taps and Showers Direct Ltd We voted for Highgate as well although, we believe our products would look best in these properties http://www.tapsandshowers-direct.co.uk/
GOAStudio | Residential Architecture & Home Design It is not normally the style I go for but I had to vote for Highgate Family Room - Architecta Interiors; for some reason it felt more "family room" that all the others and it had a particular grand comfort about it; in a random old fashioned way but it somehow clicked with me.
But I agree with Diann, the heart is totally unnecessary.
