Can a flush mount light be converted into a hanging chandelier?

My friend fell in love with a hanging chandelier that has been discontinued, however the flush mount version is available. Is it possible for her to get an electrician to convert the flush mount version into a hanging chandelier? If so, how would it be done? Thanks!!!!

It comes in a hanging version, but since it was discontinued, she has called everywhere (even out of the country), and no one has the hanging version in stock anymore, even though some list it on the website.

It should be possible to do, the question is finding someone who will want to do the work. At that point maybe find something else? Maybe commission someone to replicate the original hanging fixture... If all else fails, she can check out some of our lighting that we make, she may like some of it :)
