Suggested window treatments?

We just moved into a house and the living room has a great window, but doesn't give us any privacy. We'd like to put in plantation shutters or blinds that we'd keep open most of the time but gives us an option to close at night if desired. Any ideas ?

I love plantation shutters, but I would consider another treatment, if were I you.

Since you are going to cover the window infrequently I would go with some drapes. You could mount above or below the arched window.

Your arch is lovely, but disproportionately large -- especially compared to the suggested photos. I live in a warm climate, need more filtering than drapes provide, and adore my plantation shutters. PS - You can still add drapes to the sides if you like the decorative effect. Best of both worlds!
