My husband and I just removed all the carpet off of our stairs, and refinished the wood underneath. We painted the tops of the treads black and the kickplates white. We have decided that we would like a runner to go on the stairs however we are not sure if it needs to match the carpet in the hallway upstairs? We are planning on replacing all the carpet upstairs in the very near future with a low pile greyish shag carpet. (Stainmaster Stoats Nest 718L). Do we need to match this carpet, or can we choose a different style runner and would love some suggestions? (My entire house is a light grey on walls, and black interior doors) Please help. Thanks
