what color is the siding?

can you tell me the color and transparency of your cypress? Trying to decide whether to let it age and stain clear (I like the silver) or stain it prior

I don't have the exact color but it is sort of an flat army green color. Looks great in a wooded setting and doesn't show mildew. I used a Duron solid acrylic exterior stain (which is essentially paint) and primed the siding on all sides before a single finish coat. This is the best paint I've ever used. Adheres well and doesn't peel, but I think the priming on all sides is the most important thing. Peeling and flaking is due to moisture in the wood trying to get out.
If you don't backprime, you could get more cupping as well.
