I think the counter top for the island just came from a sheet metal fabricator here in town. Most sheet metal companies should be able to make a counter top to your specifications. The wording on our spec sheet is, 'stainless steel with flat stainless edge over wood core'. See 'under construction' photo below to see what it looked like before the counter was put on it. juliaexton Thanks for the comments above, I have been searching for an island just like this on castors, so I will look to go the same route.

michaelkim juliaexton- I think you may be happy with going to Costco or Home Depot. They have HUSKY work bench style cabinets with bamboo surfaces and they are on casters. Perhaps you could use one to fit your needs.
