I have a traditional home and starting to remodel all 4 bathrooms. should I pick small tile or larger tile such as 12 by 24?

Are you asking for the floor? For floor, I would recommend large tiles. They are more difficult to lay, but a good setter can lay them properly.

I know this is a matter of personal taste, but I think one should always use the largest tiles possible in every situation. Easier to seal, less grout to clean and reseal, creates the illusion of more space and looks way, way better!

I mean for the shower. Since there is a tub there, I am getting feedback that it might not look right. I was planning to use 12 by 14 polished porcelin in the shower and the plank type on the floor.

I still say bigger is better, at least for tile! More important is the design and that may be some what limited by the size of the area you are tiling. Play around with graph paper, measure your back wall width and height find the center and design out in each direction. If your tub is standard the 12x12 should work out perfect. Always start with the center on every wall and you won't have grout lines in the center, make sure any cuts you make are equal on each end. I have seen subway designs done with huge rectangular tiles and it looked great too. On the home page here at houzz type "big tile ----" and see for yourself. The big tiles look more sophisticated, more expensive, more open and expansive!

Thank you all. I have 4 bathroom. I will do the first one in large tile. The second one I like to try the subway tile.

I'm not sure that I agree with the larger tile for the shower surround. I like the idea of the plank flooring, and think a smaller mosaic would really work well in the shower. I'm attaching a picture of an example for you to see.

You can also see more tile here- http://www.granitetransformations.com/southjersey/products/mosaic-tiles/colors/

Thanks, and good luck!
