sealing furniture painted w/chalkboard paint

I purchased the antique sideboard. It was refinished in a white chalkboard paint...I think. However, the surface gets marked up easily. I have read where other people who have refinished furniture use a wax. What is this wax? Can I use it on this piece of furniture? Where do you buy it? How do you apply it? Will that take care of the problem? I do not want to put an acrylic sealer on it. I don't want that glossy look on an antique. Thanks for your help.

I use a paste wax after I have painted a piece of furniture. It's simply buffed in by hand and leaves a soft satin finish not shiny at all. There are several paste waxes available just check with your local hardware store.

hi there! i have a feeling this piece was painted with annie sloan's chalk paint. i use it all the time and it's simple to seal. just buff with a soft cloth like tonia said. here's the link to the wax http://anniesloan.com/acatalog/copy_of_Lannoy_Nuit.html you want to get the clear. the dark is used to create a distressed look. good luck!

Thanks, Tonia and Rebecca. I'll give it a try! So, this should take care of the problem with the scuff marks created by moving items around on the top? I appreciate your help.
