Gas Fireplace Insert for existing brick fireplace - modern

Our house was built in 1970, but has some features that make it feel like a mid-century modern house. We purchased the house 3 years ago are trying to keep as much of the original look and feel as possible while updating the interior and making it more efficient.

We have plumbed the brick fireplace in the basement family room for gas and painted the interior black, but we cannot find an insert that we like. We want something simple and modern. We love the Spark fireplaces, but have been told this cannot be done in our existing fireplace. Every place we have gone to or contacted has tried to sell us a log set and more traditional looking insert than we want.

I would prefer to have an insert rather than just leaving the fireplace open and having a flame due to the additional heat we have been told an insert would provide. The first two photos show what we like - simple flame with glass in front. The second two photos show our old wood burning stove and a wide metal plate that covered the opening - this was all removed. We like the brick that runs up to the ceiling and the terrazzo hearth we have - does anyone have any suggestions for us?
thank you!
Christy
