Personally the drapes are the main thing that make the room feminine looking. Without replacing the drapes maybe a new wall color, taking up the white rug, and changing out your art and updating your entertainment center with some paint to tie everything together. Whatever you choose, I would love to see the finished look! Good luck

Thanks scottish1 I really appreciate your comments. The tv is being updated very soon thankfully which is why I thought I would do the whole room. If I repaint the feature wall maybe you will notice the drapes less. I would love to hang some movie prints but the drapes are killing me!!! Maybe they need to go. Really would rather new carpet than drapes. Perhaps I will do everything then if the drapes just don't go change them. Were just so expensive and tie in to the dining that runs off this room.

If new drapes are not in the budget, try just removing the valances to update the room and make it look less fussy. You might also consider painting your room all one color. The dark accent color closes in the space and makes it look smaller. For a more masculine feel, replace the floral art and the ornate lamp shade.
