Help with the perfect pale blue/gray paint for bathroom

August 15, 2012 in Design Dilemma
I am redoing bathrooms in our 1939 house with cararra marble and white subway tile but am really struggling to find the right paint color.

I want to keep the traditional charm of the house and am looking for a pale blue/gray. I do not want it too dark so that it is the first thing you notice. I want it to complement, and work with, the cararra marble. Everything I am finding ends up being "little boys room" blue when I get it on the wall.

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Thanks, Paula

Try a gray that has just the tiniest nearly invisible hint of blue in it. I've noticed (in choosing pale grays for some of our bedrooms) that it always looks bluer on the wall than on the chip.
Maybe something like this?

Feather Grey by Benjamin Moore is a lovely grey with blue undertones. May be just what your looking for!

Funny...I was just looking at Feather Gray. Thanks! I will also look into Metropolitan...it's not in my fan deck.

Feather gray is a beautiful color (we have it in our bedroom). But it definitely "reads" as a gray with pale blue in it. Metropolitan gray, though it actually has blue undertones, reads as a purer gray. So it just depends on what look you are going for.

Possibly Silver Gray? 2131-60. Or Mt. Rainier Gray, 2129-60.

Cordelia2003 ...love the name:-) I agree Silver Gray could work. I was in love with Mt. Rainer Gray and sadly it reads very light blue on the walls. thanks

That is quite a classic combination and I agree with feeny's great color suggestion.

Thank you! Dytecture, is the photo you included actually Metropolitan, or is it just like Metropolitan. That is a good color balance

You're welcome, that color looks very close to Metropolitan, perhaps it's best if you contact the designer of this bathroom.

Try Pewter 2121-30 by Benjamin Moore, a great gray with blue undertones. Looks great with a white bathroom. Hope that helps. Charmean Neithart
