do I dare block my southern exposure - feedback on internal light and transom windows
August 24, 2012 in Design Dilemma
hi. I'm buying a loft apartment and it has great southern exposure or eastern exposure facing another building. I will need to build a bedroom and the layout works best if the bedroom is on the southern exposure versus the living room. I figure I can build in transom windows and translucent doors but wondered if I'll regret this. Has anyone done this and did it bring enough natural light into the room beyond? thanks for any feedback.

I ended up keeping the southern exposure and building the wall along the eastern exposure. I didnt want to limit the impact of the 8 foot window. I will post pics when im back from vacation.
