Help! I want some recommendations on redecorating...My entry was is boring..been the same for the past 5 years...Thinking of painting the front door black , but would I have to paint the trim as well? The outside of it is painted black...The marble table and mirror have been the same for the last 5 years. The living room is basically a long rectangle. This was the best way that I could position the furniture around in it. Christmas time is here so the shaker style chair will be moved the study and the tree will be there...But I am considering painting the french doors as well? But same question, can I do so, without having to do the whole trim? The windows need wood blinds and treatments, I know...But am stuck with choosing between white blinds and dark wood colored blinds...I wanted to keep with sheers since the leather furniture and marble table are so heavy...any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated!

Centergold Have to know what kind of budget?

trendyb Depends...I have replaced the blinds with white wood blinds. New curtains, furniture is the same...entryway is still boring, and with a recent roof lek, we have spent a lot in repairs....

Manon Floreat Sorry to hear about the roof. If you want to change up the foyer, think about freshening it up with a creamy white wall color and crisp white trim. The round console could be replaced with a smaller more streamlined one with a soft print above it. Painted black stair railing and banister will give the room some definition.

I can't say much about the door area because I can't see the adjacent walls, but i think the urns can be retired. Maybe a bench instead. Do you have more photos?

trendyb will post more once the entry is finished. drywall was just put up. I can;t paint just the entry because its all completely open and it all has to be the same color because it flows into the living room and upstairs. urns are gone, on front porch...tried finding a smaller piece to replace the round marble table but that area is so small, the pieces I find that I love are all too wide. The mirror is on my nerves, I didn't think about placing art there though...plan on painting the wood on stairs black, and replacing the wood floors soon with a dark jamocha colored wood to match the stairs.

Marina Klima Goldberg - Klima Design Group I would paint just the door not the trim. The color I would choose not black but rather
benjamin moore velvet cloak or chelsea gray . See enclosed. Also i am attaching a picture, similar was done at my client's home and it looks good.

Marina Klima Goldberg - Klima Design Group also, what we are doing is putting the stained glass inserts instead of the glass in the door. Hope this helps.

trendyb i hate the sheers, but hate it being wide open to the street too...i was thinking of getting that film they sell at lowes that is clear but people cant see in but we can see out? stained glass would be beautiful but it wont go with our house. its a stucco house. i will post pics later today when the sun comes out. its dark and dreary right now. thanks for all your input! i just finished repainting dining room, kitchen, master and all the bathrooms. new tile was put in kitchen and the cabinets were painted. now we are picking out carpet for all of downstairs and granite so its been a process...and i am so glad to hear some input because at this point my husband is done answering, "which do u like better???"
