Colour of interior Kitchen Cabinets

hi everyone, we have finally agreed on the material for the kitchen cabinets for the cottage. We will be doing a stained quarter cut oak, stained a dark brown/grey. Flat panel 4' door since we have 9' ceilings, my husband wants to go right to the ceiling, the cabinets will start 21" above the counters. I would like to know if all interiors of the cabinets are normally white or is there another colour for dark cabinets. Even though my husband is in the business he tells me he only uses white .
Could you guys please confirm one way or the other.
And advise if you feel there might be a design issue going to the ceiling with the cabinets. We will be using the rod handles .

If this is a vacation cottage for fun times, why be so conservative.? Open them up to hot orange inside and a fun set of dishes and glassware to boot!

Usually stained wood cabinets have stained wood interiors too. Even white cabinets sometimes have light wood (often maple) interiors. But I love decoenthusiast's idea of having fun with the interiors and using an accent color. White interiors, BTW, get dinged up more easily than stained wood.

Hello Poorgirl,

In the twenty one years I've been practicing I've encountered all sorts of interiors for cabinets, from paint to stain to fabric to wallpaper. Truly, anything goes.

You might want to think about what YOU want to see when you open up the doors. Also, do any of your doors have glass in them so the interior is exposed? If so, highlight it with either an accent color or with a wallpaper. Wallpaper can be a lot of fun to look at and will last longer than a paint finish.

Decoenthusiaste, you are so right. I am going to tell my husband that I think some of them should be red. I don't know if he will go for it since he has white in the shop, but at least maybe the door cabinets and a c ouple of the drawers. I think the silverwear drawer would be a great drawer for colour since it's opened so often.
Elizabeth, Ihave been trying to get him to build with some glass doors but he's saying it's adding up to too much, since I also want. the touch glide in the pantry's and belieive or not an upgraded garbage can and a few more goodies.
