Huge wall with small fireplace

I have a two story family room and a small fireplace for such a big wall with no windows. I thought about building bookcases around but the windows are so close to the wall. Also thinking about wainscoting. Thanks for any idea.

The fireplace looks extremely out of proportion on that wall, and is dwarfed by that massive entertainment center on one side, and the cabinet on the other side. Oddly, it reminds me of mom, dad, and the baby!

You need to move the entertainment unit far away from the fireplace, and completely redesign and beef up your fireplace surround. I'm wondering why it doesn't have a hearth.

I'm at a loss to understand why houses are designed with these massively high walls and windows. It is neither cozy nor inviting, and very poorly thought out design. It's such a waste of space, and the cost to heat these areas, as the heat does rise to the top of these rooms, in not justifiable. Furniture in these rooms looks like doll-house furniture, and what do you do with all that blank, cold-looking wall space?

I'd beef up the FP with the build-in. Take it right into the window.

Try this. Redo the fireplace and build it up to the ceiling, bumping it out from the wall. Put t v over the fireplace. Continue the horizontal trim (over your windows) right around the room (not on either side of the new "chimney"). Vary the shades of wall paint as in this picture.
