love the design, but would the rust come off on your hands or anything that came in contact with it?

Yard Art Yes...steel rusts, it is what it does :) After a few months the rusting will pretty much be done, unless something is applied to start the oxidation process again. If you want to burn natural gas or propane in it, we can make it in aluminum and powder coat it a rust finish.
