How I Make a Color Board - Really Works!

I came up with this idea a while ago, and recently used it when trying to find pillows that would co-ordinate well with my plaid sofa. I have a good color memory, but my plaid sofa has so many colors in it I don't think I could accurately remember all of them. Here's what I did: I found an old fashion magazine (other magazines will work, too) and went through it page-by-page. When I saw a color that looked like it would match a color in my sofa, I cut a square of that color from the page, held it to my sofa to make sure it matched (ignoring sheen), and then glued it to my 5" x 8" card. One color sample was cut from a picture of a skirt! I took the completed sample card with me to pick out pillows, and it worked like a charm! I keep the card on file in case I need it again to pick out other accessories. Try it - it's easy to do!

Yep, this is similar to what designers do, too.
