Need appropriate flooring for Basement which is to be used as a combo kids playroom/workout room.

Basement has slight musty smell so there's obviously some moisture in the area. Initially, I thought of cork, then rubber, then linoleum...but all of these floorings have shown indications of denting when putting heavy equipment (workout machines) on them. I'm now down to considering basement carpet (my least favorite choice just because it doesn't seem as clean). Has anyone out there been faced with this concern/issue? Thank you, Carol

Don't waste our money on any flooring until you address the moisture issue.

If you are concerned about clean, buy a Hoover Home Steam Cleaner - we use ours all the time. It is really easier than bothering to hire it done and we can do it whenever we want. But tile might be a good choice. I am with Candace though - check out the moisture problem.

There are woven vinyl flooring that looks like a sisal weave but is durable and flat because it's vinyl.You could throw an area rug on the kids side of the room for comfort, which could easily be romoved for cleaning. Thank you so much...I checked out the link and this is beautiful. I'm curious as to whether heavy exercise equipment would cause a "dent." Definitely would like to look at some samples!
