Size for reclaimed beams above windows and doors.

I am building a rock house and plan on using reclaimed hand hewn beams above the windows and doors. I am curious if there are any industry guidelines regarding the size of these beams in comparison to the size of the window/door.

Doors: 8'hx3'w
Windows: 6'hx2'w
5'hx6'w

Also, I'd like to make the ceiling hand hewn planks to match these beams. Doors are wood, armoire is wood, book shelve, etc. How important is it to have all these wooden elements be the same tone/color? The room is small (15'x16').

Thanks for the help.

Hi Stechranch, How's it going with your project? Did you decide how to do the beams? Would love to see an update!
